Linear followers not looking at their lead

Not sure how embedded is in other culturals but, I do know it can be intimidating for either sex to be looking into each other's eyes (even creepy for some) so I wouldn't take it so personally. If their body and movement matches your lead, I would focus on that more.

Hi , what is status of dancing in your place now ?

20 seemed like a lot... then I counted myself as well... probably about 15 10 times July - Nov, 4-5 times for other socials, and going to be 16th this coming weekend..and probably NYE social... never realized how many times I went social dancing with COVID in the air......... now I'm a little at...

Welcome, welcome! Please note that if the flow/direction of the conversation is not interrupted at least once, then the world is upside down here on SF.

    Hitting on the even count

They seem to clap on the 2-4-6-8. It's most pronounced starting at 2:50. I'm used to hitting on the odd count (even playing jazz).

This week in my dancing I'm working on...

It seems to be moving the shoulder contrabody gives a bigger sense of the neck moving side to side.

I'm going to guess more natural vs studio trained based on his footwork and level of musicality matching the music. Simple but I'm not seeing any of the cookie cutter movement.

Hmmm. Bersy seems to be walking a lot more "normally" while as the others seem to be keeping that hip motion going 24/7. That's the vibe I feel compared to some of the others.

Interesting. I find her movements quite subtle since it seems that exaggerated hip movement is rarer and less pronounced. Who knows. it could be the camera angle?

What I'm listening to right now...

I hear you.. It's like the one I translated and became very creeped out by (why I no longer translate songs!)

Berzy Cortez has some of the best movement imo.

I was talking about the follow gyrating. Very rarely do I see guys with exaggerated hip motions throughout the dance.

still trying to find the video that reminds me of it (from a videographer I knew). This is the best I can find right now: The level of exaggeration was taught which I would see (not so often I admit) but it does seem to be a bit much (for me). seems a little much for my flavor. This is a...

This is where introducing and educating indidviduals on developing/expresing their own musicality will allow it to make more sense. However I see this as a workshop rather than a class (for the masses) d/t many probably not caring about sabor as much. If instructors taught individuals on how to...

:wacky::dancingbanana::rofl: Yep! The crazy thing is I see more and more studios actually teaching the (exaggerated) "booty roll" like you see in the Hip Hop and Rap videos. It made me rethink "WTF?" When I think Latin Motion, it should be smooth, subtle and look completely natural almost like...

Now that you name it this way, I realized the first place I started, the latin motion I guess would be considered "booty movement." Not in the league of belly dancing hip gyration so it never seemed that strange.

This where the sexism is seen. Even for men, you are "weak," "a girl" if you show any "flava" and aren't of the "Romance" cultures (Hispanic/Italian). And the opposite for women of not showing "enough." This is conditioned from childhood (however those stereotypes are magnetically slow...

HA! You are lucky if some places check. As long as you are coming in with a mask and in the common areas with the mask, no one asks if you are vaccinated. Only at the (indoor) socials have I seen them actually check for proof of vaccination (so I will go back to those).

Everyone in class today have been vaccinated (20 students?). Maybe there is hope yet. I felt more comfortable not wearing my mask (only in that studio). I know it's taking a risk but damn, trying to dance for 2.5 hours with a mask is quite difficult. It was much nicer. At socials, I will still...

Do you watch others dance when you go out?

I've always observed people, environment, etc so it's automatic. In the Salsa scene, unless asked right away, I prefer to watch and observe which section seems to have the most breathing room, which follows exhibit the good energy. Then I watch the footwork more than anything else. If I see two...
