I just wanted people to know about an event going on and to remind people to check the event portion of this forum. With some other people we are trying to bring people together and raise money for the great need after the Earthquake in Haiti. Thanks for checking it out!

One fantastic donation option for all those willing to donate is Partners in Health (www.PIH.org), the largest NGO in Haiti. They are in the field, and an anthropologically-informed, locally-rooted organization, delivering medical supplies and assistance to people in Haiti for over 20 years. They are highly credible, and with a very low overhead (i.e. over 93% of all donations go through as aid, with less than 7% going to overhead and operational expenses).

Perfectly good, and hope the event was a real success! Mostly just letting other interested people know about a quality option to help out.

The event didn't happen yet! Trying to get the word out early but also not spam this main board. I'm interested to see who might be going. You can check it out on the Events and Announcements section. It isn't until Feb 4. But there is an event this Sunday and one the Sunday after the one I'm putting on...
So: I am also posting up other Haiti salsa events going on in Southern California, at least the ones I'm coming across. My website also talks about a fundraiser for shoes and I have a few facebook events going around. I hope it does well. Who is going? What things have some of you done to help Haiti? Just curious. I have one friend (not a salsa dancer) who is a doctor and he actually went to Haiti, I think that is so wonderful! |

Seems like everyone and their mother in the salsa community is having one of these. Facebook is flooded with notices.

Just goes to show how genuine the salsa community is. Almost all the teachers I know have raised a fair bit of a money to support Haiti in this time of need. Great to see
