One of my favorite salsasongs is about Marie Laveau - a Vodoo queen who lived somewhere in the swamps around New Orleans.
I have looked everywhere on the net and all find is other songs about Marie Laveau - country, blues and jazz. Noone seems to be the original song (I thought perhaps my favorite is a salsaversion of an old song).
It starts up as a laidback salsa - English song. One lady sings. Then it goes into Spanish.
Some phrases:
Many many years ago there was a ??? old lady called Marie Laveau
she could solve any problems that you had.
???? make you mad.
....
Who put that vodoo on you?
Who put that vodoo on you?
(Spanish song starts)
....
???? Marie Laveu is gone for many years
New Orleans still live i fear
....
Do anyone know who have made this song?
Do you know where to buy it?

I did one more internet search - now at Descarga.com - found the a CD title "Mardi Gras Mambo: Cubanismo! in New Orleans" - went back to Amazone - and there it was:
w w w.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00004WGDB/ref=pd_sim_music_3/104-4523861-1779962?v=glance&s=music
Of course I did start the search at Amazone but then I searched for the songtitle but this songtitle wasn't in the index. All there was where other songtitles about Marie laveau.
Anyhow, I'm glad I found this CD.
Do anyone know the lady that sings?

I have heard it at salsaclasses and for practice in shines, I I find it very dancable - though the slow tempo. And I dance on-1.
The dramatic touch make it perfect for practicing "creativness connected with the music". The slow tempo makes it much more easy to trim shines, arms, expressions, style etc.
And it is also one of my favorite songs for relaxing.
Funny - how it can be so :? . Two different purposes - the same song.

I live in New Zealand.... iTunes is not available in this region...
Anybody knows where else it might be available from :?:

I've just heard this song again after many years & I had to look it up. Thanks to the posters here for directing me to the song & album, which I can now play on Spotify as my medium of choice ;)
