Popular salsa remakes...

Which popular salsa remakes are you guys tired of hearing over and over?

List the TOP 3 and let's see what we come up with:

1. Indestructible (awesome song but damn, there are many timbaleros and singers that should not be attempting this song)

2. Trucutu (same as above)

3. any song from Hector Lavoe (why does every singer want to think they can sing like Hector!? There's only 1 or 2 or 3 that can imitate him but thats it, imitate. Nothing more!)

1- Bilongo: an easy song to set. every small band had played it sometime. quiquiribú gandinga...

2- Planté Bandera: not every singer has the capacity to evoke Chamaco Ramirez presence on stage.

3- Soy Profesional: ironically, the most used by unexperienced singers and wannabe soneros.

Really, Soy Professional?
Is this the same 1 I'm thinking of, from Justo?
In NY/NJ, I've rarely heard it. Maybe about 1 or 2x.

Bilongo is 1 of my favorite songs ever, so I can't complain, hehehe.

Weird to say but in my opinion Herman Olivera can belt out any remake to perfection. He's just a blessed soul!

What else people? What other remakes are you guys tired of hearing day after day?
This can definitely be an ongoing interesting post.
Cheers!

I agree on the Hector Lavoe remakes....I dont have my music with me at the moment to give you specifics - - but I've bought some whoppers that just made me regret even looking for them b/c of this.........I just don't get it - - how many people need to give hommage to Hector Lavoe without being overly-corny and sappy......and fouling up the songs???? The ones that bug me the most: Periodico de Ayer......... and Mi Gente.......

Come out with a new concept! I'll post more later....as I have tons that annoy me horribly.....

True! Definitely not for amateurs to attempt. Not only do you need a great timbalero and sonero, but an entire group of pros to pull this one off, especially at the correct tempo. Those brass parts are no walk in the park.

actually, u know what. let me rephrase or add something.
i dont mind if there are remakes, but for a sonero or band that has about 30 to 40 amazing songs, why do they keep remaking the same ones over and over.....
thats what i dont understand.

I've had a lot of local NYC bands play at the club I work for and aside from the songs already mentioned, some of the others that come to mind are "El Cuarto De Tula", "Dejame Sonar" and "Ave Maria Lola"

Ehhhhhh, still common. I'm talking about songs from Orlando Marin, Kako (God please someone play any of his songs!!!!), and so many other songs we don't normally hear all the time or even any time for that matter.

If it's the song I'm thinking of (also sometimes called mandinga?) I seem to spend all my time trying to predict whether the rhythm will come back with a break beat or not.
