New Pupy Y Los Que Son Son - Tranquilo Que Yo Controlo

One for the Cuban heads - If I told you that tears of joy were flooding uncontrolably down my cheeks at the imminent prospect of the Cuban CD release of 2008, I wouldn't be stretching it too much.

Since their last stunning outing in 2005, Mi Timba Cerrá, Pupy Y Los Que Son Son have delivered a veritable flood of iconic, ecstatic slices of heaven to the dance floor, well at least on the Cuban scene here in London anyways.

If you, like me, can't wait to find out what delights the new release has in store then look no further. As far as anything is certain in the world of Cuban music, I've listed below what is, alledgedly, the track listing for the album.

Should you so wish, you can listen to most of these tracks in their entirety at the link below.

Thanks from one Cuban-Head named Richie to another. That one's straight on the shopping list, mate! Ta for the heads-up.

One for the Cuban heads

And even for some of us who don't particularly like contemporary Cuban music. This is probably the album I've been most anticipating hearing over the last couple months. For me, Cesar Pedroso's output is very uneven, but the high points are really high, and his artistic voice is refreshingly his own. Now if only I'd brought headphones to the library with me today. . .

(Funny though, his music doesn't really make me want to dance. I just enjoy listening to the songs of his that I like.)

I heard that Pupy's Tranquilo and Maikel Blanco's Anda y Pegate are the best of the year. The preview clips sound very promising. Interesting note: Anda y Pegate sounds more like Pupy's style than MB's previous LVV-like lineage. I don't have the CD yet so its just a first impression based on a 20 sec clip.

bailar y tocar,

it is true. they are the best timba albums this year definetaly. id say anda y pegate is very similar to recoge y vete. pupy's new album is close to mi timba cerra.

all together. amazing albums both. if you dont like this, you dont understand what is music ;p

btw. it is funny, how pupys se pareze aquel is a "maikel blanco diss" and these two are the best timba albums for years. pupy is jealous..? naaah, maybe just maikel is copying pupy etc in his sound idk

now when pepito is no longer in the band, its gonna be weird hearing someone else sing pupys songs. i can imagine that the change is huge, because maikel's song anda y pegate is sang by a different singer on the album that in the single. cant remember his name tho.

anyways, sounds good still.

oh my..its here and now I can't stop listening to Anda y Pegate.

That's a pretty good song , They seem to be very popular already in the timba scene. Did you all noticed that the end of the song sounded like van van? I think they did on purpose. Also very influence by charanga habanera.

I meant I couldn't stop listening to the whole album and now my favorite track is Adivina Papa. There has been debate on the timba_geeks yahoogroup between the Pupy/Tranquilo and the SM/Anda Pegate camps. The people who like the tranquilo album but don't like anda say that the anda tracks sound too much like Mayito of LVV. I say thats great because I really like how Mayito sounds. I heard someone say that Angel Bonne arranged one of the tracks on Anda Pegate, so yet another link to LVV.

Other folks are saying that LVV's Arrasando (possibly out in December if all goes well) is going to give 'em all a run for their money. We shall see & hear.

The new Klimax from earlier in the year gets good reviews too. I heard one clip and it sounded good. And finally, Calle Real and Habana d'Primera are supposed to have something out this year or early next year.

And they said timba was losing it....NOT!!!!
