Just curious, anybody in here representin' the ATL? If so, what are your favorite salsa spots? Mine USED to be Loca Luna, 'til I realized that It's not very salsa friendly. A salsaholic like myself isn't content w/ only dancing to 2 or 3 good salsa songs at a "salsa night." My new favorite is The Sanctuary. I went there for the first time at their grand opening social at the end of June and have been to every one since. The first one in July I got there about 7-ish and didn't leave 'til 1:45am! I also go to the Afrisalsa socials on Sunday nights.
On a side note, I noticed something kinda ironic about my salsa club experiences. When I used to frequent Loca Luna, I used to get turned down every other time I asked someone to dance, a good 35-45% of the time. (Keep in mind that at loca luna, there's hardly any Salsa played, and when there is, there is both a shortage of room to dance in and of ladies who are at least halfway decent in salsa) So when I decided to go to The Sanctuary for the first time, I looked around and realized that everybody who was on the floor could dance. I figured, this is where the pros hang out, and I'm only about average/above average, so I'll probably get turned down even more. But to my surprise, I have yet to be turned down for a dance at the Sanctuary! Sounds weird, don't it? Tell me what 'yall think.
