Salsa Forums Position on Music Sharing:
The focal point of Salsa Forums is to share information and ideas about Salsa dancing and its music. Currently it does not involve the use of resources for music sharing amongst members. Being Salsa enthusiasts we hope you understand our position and find alternative methods to support the artists, and the music that passionately brings us here. You may provide links to clips for the sole purpose of supporting your discussions, i.e. identifying songs or lyrics.

What are you doing Dj Chino?

With this list you have posted asking to exchange digitized copies of all these albums, aren't you simply promoting music piracy?

I know that many of the albums on this list are only available on vinyl and can be difficult to buy. Though many are easy to find on vinyl too, and I counted more than 40 albums that definitely are available on CD and would be possible to buy legally.

I know that albums on cd get discontinued and later re-issued. But the fact that an album is at times hard to find does not give anyone free rights to copy these albums to send to anyone!!

In fact this copying of temporarily unavailable albums severely undermines the chance that these albums do get re-issued.

The same is also true for the entries on the list that are really rare vinyls. I would wish nothing less than to see these great albums get re-issued on cd. But where is the incentive for the record labels to do so if most people have digitized copies of this already? In the end everybody loses, the music industry and us salseros.

Dj El Chino, you've done a wonderful CD (DJ El Chino's Solar Latin Club, Vol. 1 on your own distribution label) which I recommend as a must-have to anyone I can. You know how hard it is to succeed when releasing an album like that. Please treat other musicians with the same respect!

I was truly disappointed seeing you as a high profile dj post this list and propose exchanges.

We as djs are required and expected to have originals of the music we play and we should be role models for everyone to follow and not endorse piracy of the music. We need to do what we can so that musicians get the support so they can continue to make great music!
