Manolito y su Trabuco is definitely one of my favorite too, SMF! :)

A few more:
Afro-Cuban Allstars-A Toda La Gusta CD
Cubanismo
Cachao-You heard him throughout the movie, Dance with Me. Most of the songs used in that movie are on his Master Sessions, Vol. 1 CD. His Descarga (Jam sessions) CD is nice too.
Monguito-You've probably heard "Perla Fina" I love that song!
Maraca-Take a look at his Tremenda Rumba CD

REVE----------!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! everything. There stuff is harder to find then most so if you see anything grab it. Descarga is best source for their music.
LVV----begin with their last two records Chapeando and llego van van. There is also a great compilation which I believe is their 30 year one, it comes in a yellow box, but be careful there are so many compilations. This one is a 2 disc set and the second disc track begins with: Esto esta bien, azucar, candela. this is available on descarga and offers the best survey of their 1990's output. Disc 1 is also a fine selection.
Klimax---------------------!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! everything. This is progressive salsa at its best. They have the best recorded output for any group in salsa. this is a bold statement but can easily be supported. Get all of their albums.

NG recordings of the 90's, begin with en la calle which is actually a compilation--stop at the record with veneno.

Maraca is also worth noting for a wide variety of rhythms - the descarga total record specifically

Bamboleo, their second and third albums

Charanga habanera up until the record with charangero mayor. Everything else after is ehh.

Charanga forever. their first two records are the original charanga habanera lineup. Get THESE!!!

Paulito - con la concencia tranquila

Issac delgado - you only need to get exclusivo para cuba. you might also want formula. but exclusivo is his best. his recent record, en primera plana is different then his cuban output. I don't recommend it if you are looking for cuban salsa.

Pupy. Get them all.

Manolito - specifically his second and third and fifth record

Summary

Reve - anything you can find
Klimax - everything
Los Van Van - last 2 records and 30 yr. compilation
NG La Banda (1990's)
Early Charanga Habanera and First 2 Charanga Forever recordings
Paulito - concencia tranquila
Bamboleo - first 2 records
Maraca - descarga total and tremenda rumba
Pupy - everything
Manolito

These are the monsters of the timba genre. I probably forgot some but this selection should keep you busy.

In fairness to the members who might not know, some of the artists listed here do not play Cuban salsa at all. Some of it is timba; which sounds substantially different from salsa! Be sure to listen to these artists before you make any purchase or risk being unpleasantly surprised. On the other hand, you might be pleasantly surprised. In any case, listen first.
