I initially started salsa because...well...I've NEVER danced and I wanted to pick up a hobby that was different and involved some sort of social environment. I've noticed though, that people seem to lose weight when they start dancing, so I've changed my usual workout to 40 min of medium intensity salsa per night. Has anyone had any weight loss success dancing? Was it intentional or did it just happen? Thanks!

I don't know if I've lost weight, per se, because I haven't weighed myself in years. I do know that I've lost inches because I've dropped a size in pants. It was never my intentions to start dancing to lose weight. I started attending classes because I like dancing. Going down in clothing size has been an added bonus.

I started salsa in Jan '00 - at the same time I also started on a high protein / low carb diet.
I lost 2.5 stone (35lb) in three months ! And it's stayed off. I dance 2 - 5 times a week.
