I'd just like to applaud the election of Steven Rudd in oz. This feels a big step in the right direction not only for Australia but for the whole world. Especially the commitment on global warming is a appreciated.

I'm glad that you're happy about the election. Regarding environmental stuff - I remember watching on the Discovery Channel the big concern about the Great Barrier Reef and that starfish (Crown of Thorns?) that was exploding in population and wiping out the coral reefs. Was that big news or just sensationalism from the show?

Well, this is a strange thread: it's about the Australian Premier, but I'm not Australian and nor are there any Australians in this thread. I just wanted to show my cosmopolitan side and show a big event in world politics. Well, since PM can also stand for Pontifex Maximus, i.e. the pope, let's change the subject to that. What do you think of the new pope? Should he be the next Australian prime minister? ;)
