Cuban rumba lessons in the UK (Manchester area)?

I thought I'd ask you guys, in case you can help me - I've been browsing the web for it for the past few days but so far unsuccessfully.

Where could I find Cuban rumba classes in Manchester area (UK), if there are any?

I'd really appreciate some clues....

Hi Triinu,

I don't know Manchester at all so I'm afraid I can't help you here.

Since someone else mentioned Cuban style classes in Manchester in another of your threads (Cuban salsa in the UK (salsera moving to Manchester) (http://www.salsaforums.com/viewtopic.php?topic=625)), perhaps the best thing to do is to speak to these teachers and see if they can teach Rumba or know someone who can?

All the rumba lessons I've taken were either by teachers visiting Scotland from elsewhere (London, Cuba...) or at congress workshops. Short of going to Cuba, these maybe the best opportunities for you.
Are you thinking about going to the UK congress in September (http://www.salsa-uk.com/Congress/index.htm)? I took rumba and afro-cuban dancing workshops there last year. There is also a Cuban weekender coming up in November (see Pasion Cubana @Buckland Hall, see http://www.havananights.co.uk/buckland.htm), which sounds good.

Thank you MacMoto! I sort of thought that too (that the best bet would be to ask the local teachers about chances to learn Cuban rumba). I also have taken all my rumba classes abroad, either during festivals or just regular salsa trips (I've been over to Finland quite a lot since its so close to Estonia and there is much more salsa-activity over there, more parties, partners, classes, etc.). Finland is very much focused on Cuban style :) So - lucky me :)

I'd love to do the UK Congress in September, I have to look into it still.

I am officially in Manchester - and haven't been dancing yet :cry: I found out about some classes close to the Tropicana Club and plan to check them out next week. Can't wait to meet some local salsa people - I feel so salsa-deprived..!!!
