Al & Edie Espinoza

I've read (over in the DanceForums Hamburg report) that Al and Edie have split and given their last performance together.

Sad news, if true. Can anyone confirm this ?

It's true, it was announced in Hamburg. They did a last performance together, it was a freestyle where they did some of their signature moves.

i hope they'll both still teach at major congresses.
Al is a wonderful partner to dance with.. he seems to be enjoying every dance, no matter what level the lady. always playful and attentive
And i like the way Edie interpretes the female role in salsa + following (especially love her hijacks)

When Joby and Louis broke up, a great dancer/teacher disapeared (for a while?) from the congress scene.

 wow....... this is what happens when one gets too busy to check SF or DF regularly.........

Funny how things turn out. I met Luis & Joby right here in Melbourne (their last international tour together) when they've made the annoucement to split up......

And I've only met Edie & Al for the first time, in person during our Syd Congress this Jan (and gave an inspirational speech)......... .....!

This may work out quite well in the long run. They can actually be in different cities spreading their wisdoms of salsa (by that, I refer to the simple theory of dancing to the music, as opposed to 101 moves/tricks of the week 8) )

YAY!!! SC is back!!! :bouncy:  :bouncy:  :bouncy:  :bouncy:  :bouncy:

Wonder if she caught him foolin around? Guys that can dance like him get hounded by beautiful women

This might be the most possible speculation but is not the reason as far as I know.

I think as long as they do not talk about it in public it is their business so I will not write here what I heard but this version has nothing to do with other women or guys.

We were treated to an impromptu performance by Al & Edie at the Salsa Summer Splash in Palm Springs last week.

Al was going through his closing remarks on Sunday night when he says, "Wanna see us dance?" (referring to himself and Edie). Of course the entire audience cheers and they go with it!

Edie did announce that they would still be business partners so I'm looking forward to next year's Splash.

Message from Edie:

OK!!! The official word is finally OUT!!! I am now partnering with Henry Herrera of Salsa Racing Dance Studios in Miami, Florida! I have moved to Miami, and am currently experiencing my very FIRST HURRICANE! This Hurricane reminds me so much of Henry's PERSONALITY!!! I am keeping a daily diary of my experience here and will post it on upcoming Newsletters!
