Need help with rhytem.

Hi, I'm new here. I was wondering if anyone here know piano rhytems for salsa. I have some, but I would like to know how to play romantic salsa piano. Like El Camioner or Lluvia. Any help would be appriciated.

Dear Desperado,

There are two definitve texts for salsa piano patterns, both by Rebeca Mauleon: "Salsa Guidebook for Piano and Ensemble", and "101 Montunos".

A more prescriptive one is by Carlos Campos called "Salsa And Afro Cuban Montunos For Piano".

You should be able to find them from descarga.com

As for playing them in the romantica style, you might try adjusting the sycopations and/or arpeggiating a little more to diffuse the clave feel.
