Bachata Classes in London

Hello!

My first post on this forum! A big hello to everybody. I started Salsa around 3 months ago and I am now definitely an addict. :)

I have seen bachata being danced in some of my local clubs and would like to take a few lessons. Anyone know any good places in London?

I found two on the web. Q Bar on Wednesdays and Bar Andalucia on Thursdays. Has anyone tried either of those places? I live just outside London and it will be bit of a trek during the week so dont want to make the effort of going all the way there to find there is only one other person! :)

Cheers

Welcome to the forums Concorde – it’s great to have you here :D!

I think the LDA do a bachata course – it’s term based so to really benefit you have to attend for 6 weeks.

I haven’t heard of the places you mention.

I’m not mad on the dance – but most of my follower friends get their bachata instruction from irregular workshops. Frank Santos and Inaki Fernandez seem to be London’s main instructors and both of them hold a workshop maybe 3 or 4 times a year.

Keep an eye on their websites for their workshop dates and appearances at weekenders etc.

Good luck!

AndrewD thanks for your response. I had a look at the LDA website and their Bachata course sounds good!

Deeply Dippy I dont live too far from Central London (south west). I can be in central london within an hour but just dont want to make that journey during the week after long days at work. Weekends would be ideal but cant seem to find any Bachata classes.

Looks like no one (yet) has tried the Bachata classes at Q Bar or Bar Andalucia during the week. I might just make an effort one week to go and try them out. If I do then will let you know how it was.

Cheers

just a tought but if there's not much dancing after the bachata class you could always pop into wessex house opposite clapham junction station (if go through that part of SW london) for some salsa social dancing. its packed with some really good dancers (but very hot).

Finally tried out Bar Andalucia. The street and entrance looked a bit dodgy. I walked straight past the entrance the first time as it was not very obvious. I was pleasantly surprised when I finally went in. Its a nice bar with friendly staff and a good but small dance floor. Classes are supposed to start at 7:30 on Thursdays but didnt start till just after 8.

There were only around 6 or 7 people but it was really good fun. Good instructor as well. Bachata..what a dance! :) Its a pity there are not more regular Bachata classes in London. I have found only other place (Q Bar on Wednesdays). Might give that a go soon as well. I need more practice! :)

If any of you have found any other regular classes then do let us know.

Cheers!

Welcome to SF!

Just tried googling and Frank Santos and Inaki Fernandez have a Bachata class on Saturday the 27th October @ the Prodigal in St. Pauls. Don't know if it's going to be regular or not.

I know you said you wanted to avoid going into the city but it does have Salsa classes with Mambocity as well and a dance night afterwards so you can kill two birds with one stone.

I've not been as I live in Scotland and learned Bachata on the dance floor as it's quite popular here.
