I've been waiting for this for almost a year and it has arrived. Thanks go to my brother for this wonderfully belated gift.
For any Sci-Fi geeks that might be on this forum it is book six - 'Metal Swarm' - in the 'Saga of Seven Suns' series by Kevin J. Anderson (June, X-Files, Jedi Academy).
If you are looking for a good read and like Sci-Fi galactic epics then this series is a must. Beats TV anyday! Think of it as a cross between Babylon 5, Stargate (without the gates) and Dune. Be warned; if you have one of this collection of books in your possession you might think about Salsa less. When you start to read you might also dance less. You have been warned!
That's my random post for the week :)
Happy posting.
I'll have to put that on the list. Thanks! :)

I've been a bit to eager with this book and am a quarter way through it already. Eeek. Will have to wait until July of next year for the next one so I might slow down juuuust a bit :).
I bought some Arthur C Clarke books while in Asia last year - A Time Odyssey and the follow up to 2010. Wasn't impressed with the 2010 follow up but the Time Odyssey books were good. It looks like the 3rd book is coming out in December so can't wait for that one!

Nothing all that great - been reading some of those expanded Universe/Star Wars books (a lot of Timothy Zahn), but they aren't all that great (define them as super-light reading). Beto recommended Truce at Bakura, and I've ordered that last week.
He also recommended the "Meg" series by Steve Alten, so I've ordered the first book.
I have mixed feelings about Kevin Anderson/Brian Herbert's "final" two books for the Dune series. It was good to see the series come to a conclusion (following the tragic death of Frank), but felt that they could have (and should have) done a better job with it.

I haven't read any of the Star Wars books yet but have a list of them ready to order on Amazon along with the Babylon five ones. Dune completely lost me as a kid and the follow ups lost me as an adult :). Perhaps the books will make some sense.
Thanks for the Meg recommendation. I have to admit that sci-fi horror is not my thing but will give it a try and see if it takes.
Best,
