Hey all! (My first post... ;) )

Just wanted to ask for an opinion... I'm not really into buying instructional videos, but a few compilations of interesting moves wouldn't go astray! As a guy, you always feel like new toys to play with (moves and girls... :P ) Heheh... anyways, just wanted to know if anyone had checked out these two videos from Albert Torres Productions...

"NY's turns, turns, turns" or "100 new moves"

Both are by recognised names in the NY scene (or so I gather) and I just wanted to know if anyone thought they were worth the pesos...

Thanks in advance!

T.

Hey T.,
I have both of the DVDs and I like them. However, a warning - these DVDS are definitely for the advanced dancer because they don't focus on teaching the basics.

The 100 Moves DVD is pretty cool with 50 moves coming from Ismeal Oterro, but he takes less than a minute to explain each combination. If you're cool with that - than it's a great buy.

The NY Turns, Turns, Turns - is a good DVD as well. Each guy teaches two combinations, and again, they take less than a minute to explain each combination. It's a fun DVD with lots of bloopers...plus you get to see the differences in the NY styles from Juan Matos to Nelson Florres.

I hope this helps you out.

Hey! :)

Thanks for the greeting jimedoc and simona! Much appreciated! :D

Hmm... On the strength of your recommendation simona, methinks I may just have to purchase those DVDs then! Although it'll be a killer waiting for them to come in the mail all the way to Australia... *pouts*

I can pretty comfortably dance On2 now (not that I'm awesome or anything)... and can comfortably convert stuff from On1 to On2... just need more good gals to practice with and more fun stuff to try out... And it'd be cool to have some footage of some well known NY dancers with distinctive styles...

Thanks again for the feedback! ;)

Does anybody else want to review these DVDs? I am thinking of getting them, and some feedback would help.

NY Turns, Turns, Turns is pretty solid. It does go at a very rapid pace. i purchased it along with Santo Rico's beginners DVD(I dance ON1) to help.
I strongly recommend it.

Ny Turns Turns, Turns:

Fast paced. Good picture quality DVD. Each Turn pattern is shown full lenght two times. So u might use the stop button and the slow motion very often if u r like me ;-)

Thomas Guerrero combos are the more challenging as there are a lot of details. Interessting is that u see some of 1 or 2 elements recurrent in thomas patterns.
Nelson Flores and Juan Matos combo are easier to follow.

ismael's 50 combos for the new year.
I have only gone thru Ismael'S part:
Think of it as some building blocks u can use or combine yourself. They are 2 or 3 eight counts combos, if i remember well, shown once wih music and once with counting. Fast paced DVD, minimum instructions but enoough. Very Leadable.
