Dance X at Bar Salsa, London tonight!

I had this email from the Latin Collective team today.............

Yes, that's correct folks, it seems that Bruno Tonioli and Arlene Phillips wanted their student teams and the contestants of their dance show to learn some REAL AUTHENTIC SALSA, so they contacted us and asked us if they could bring them down to our classes on Wednesday 25 July at Bar Salsa. They will be there and filming all evening, so, we hope to see many of you there also.

So London guys get down there tonight and we can see you on tv Saturday!

I got there at 9.45pm and they were just leaving. You'd have thought dancers might want to stay and dance in a dance club. Must have an early start for filming tomorrow morning.

I'm amazed. Either Bar-Salsa is different to every other clubnight I've ever been to or the Dance-X team didn't actually get to see much "Authentic Salsa" being danced at all.
Clubs I've been to don't generally start "dancing" until classes finish normally around 10-ish !!!

Observations of a salsera friend who went last night :)

Dance X were indeed at Bar Salsa and Bruno took part in the beginners class. A host of shiny celebrity people sat behind us during the classes and the camera focused mainly on them, but the general effect was pretty distracting. I was horrified to see how many people were showing off for the cameras and one guy in particular (who takes advanced lessons) did everything he could throughout both lessons to stay in camera shot and even took part in the beginners lesson in a desperate attempt to get his face on TV!

It's amazing the effect that cameras will have on people. What I don't understand is: we see what happens to celebrities and we STILL all want to be one!

Why do you think I didn't arrive until 9.45? The classes there are very popular and very crowded so I timed my arrival for when they finished. I walked past the contestants as I came down the stairs and they all had tunnel vision for getting out of the club. Maybe they don't like social dancing?

Yeah, but with a ninety mile drive to get there, I didn't arrive until after 9:30. :(
