Hi everyone,

Seems this would be a good place to post my questions....Lotsa knowledgable people on music & artists.

I've heard a few salsa tunes now that have really been fantastic tunes on the dance floor. A great mix btwn the new & the old. I think they've been around for a year or 2 now, but they are new to me & i'm hoping to find more of its kind....which there must be if it's been around for so long already.

Songs such as:

- Daddy Yankee - Sabor A Melao - 00 - Barrio Fino
- Gloria Estefan & Don Omar - Tu Fotografia (Version Salsa)
- Tego Calderon - Plante Bandera
- Tego Calderon & Roselyn Sanchez - Amor Amor (Salsa)

I think the big thing in common w/ these tracks is the new mix of Salsa w/ Reggaeton & HipHop. Kinda like what DLG did w/ Reggae before.

I was wondering if salseros around the world are getting these great new tunes? & how well liked is it in the states & latin america? Esp. from some of the recent messages about the love of HIpHop, Reggaeton & the likes...it seems a natural merger!?!

As well, if anyone here is really into this kinda new style salsa, can you point us in the direction of some more tracks or artists of the like?

Looking forward to find out more.....

Hi uwrazor!! welcome to the forum
From what i have read in other topics, i think the most of the people here preffer the old salsa music. That's my opinion too, but, i still like this new stuff.
If you like salsa/reggeaton, you can try this songs:
"Se fue y me dejó", by Ismael Miranda
"Carta a un amigo" by Don Omar

Hi UWRazor! Welcome to Salsa Forums. Happy to have you here. :) Jimedoc is right. I'm one those people who are really into the classics although I like some new stuff, my heart is with the classics. As others chime in, I'm sure they will have other suggestions for you as Jimedoc has already started. Again, welcome! :)

Hey Everyone,

What a warm welcome to the forum....

& Thanks for the suggestions.....Yes, I'm an old-school salsa guy to start with too...I started with music (Like Rubaen Blades & Willie Colon) from Panama during a visit & then my world expanded....Now I guess I'm just expanding a little more....The new mixed salsa sounds out I think are a great mix between the old & the new & in itself is something totally different too.

I think anyone who appreciates other genres would agree....

I enjoy the new stuff as well as the classics. Just as long as it sounds nice, it doesn't matter to me. People make such a big deal about sticking to classics, so that when something new and really innovative comes along they miss out on it. I don't like to restrict myself in that way. Listen to what makes you feel good.

I don't think it's so much making a big deal for some. Just a matter of preference. Particularly, if it's pertaining to a style of dance. Most of Sonora Carrusels' stuff just doesn't "feel" right to be danced on2. Right now, particularly since I'm learning on2 now, that's were my musical preference is. Even though that's what I liked before learning on2, it is reinforced because my style of dance. Nothing wrong with either if that's your preference. I like some of the new stuff, by my preference is stuck in the seventies both dancewise and musical listening. ;)
