We'll be vacationing in Sitges, Spain the last week of this month (we're from Boston) and wondering whether the town's famously active nightlife includes any salsa dancing. Does anyone know? I know they've had Salsa congresses there in the past but as far as I know there isn't one next week.

Edited to add that now that I've learned about cheap public night transportation from Barcelona to Sitges I am now more interested in info about salsa in Barcelona than I am in Sitges.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Shanghuadiana! Welcome to Salsa Forums! I'm not from Spain but maybe other will chime in soon. I did a quick search and couldn't find anything for the end of this month. :(

Thanks for the welcome!

For future reference, I just discovered the existence of an hourly night bus from Barcelona back to Sitges. Which means I can actually afford to stay in Barcelona to dance!

I have come across the names of a few Barcelona clubs (and I hope it's OK for me to post them here):

Antilla, C. Aragon 141
Buenavista Salsoteca, C. Rossello 217
Illusion, C. Lepanto 408
Mojito Bar in the Barceloneta area, in a mall called Maremagum
Candela, C. Mexic
Agua de Luna, C. Viladomar 211
Cacao Beach, San Sebastian Beach
HBN BCN, Calle Escar 1

In my experience clubs can come and go so quickly, though--some of these are from websites that don't seem to have been updated lately and others are also listed in Let's Go Barcelona. The only one listed in both is Buenavista Salsoteca and according to the website it's open Wednesdays through Sundays.

If anyone can offer any information on these--which ones are still in business, the best nights to go, dress guidelines, etc. I'd be very grateful. Oh, and another thing--when do these clubs really get started? I hope not 1am as the guidebooks suggest--I like to get my dance on between 10 (22)pm and 2am. Are there any clubs where I can do that?

Also, on a related note--when we go dancing my husband and I usually change into our dance shoes inside the club and stash our street shoes under a chair or something. We've never ever had a problem doing this in any city and I doubt Barcelona thieves would be more interested in well-worn street shoes than thieves anywhere else, but if anyone thinks this is foolish or has advice about how to handle the shoe problem, I'd love to hear it.

Anymore info on Spain? Also, please update/post it in the Clubs in Your Area (http://www.salsaforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=202&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15) thread as well. Gracias! :)
