Does anyone have recommendations for a good beginner's street cha cha DVD, on 2? Not the ballroom cha cha.

Thanks in advance!

I would reccomend one particular song... La clave by Sonoro Poncena.

Are the ChaCha DVDs of Angel and Tulane Rivera Street- or Ballroomstyle?

" street " cha, as you call it, is Guajira-- breaking on 1-- cha is the off shoot ( developed by b/room ) breaking on 2 .

It also depends where you dance dance. Latino clubs mostly play Guajira and thats what the Cubans dance. However, if regular club , the on 2 version will work better for you .

Sorry, I didnt make myself clear. With "street-cha-cha" I meant the Style danced at Salsaparties (On2). Salsamoves and -movements adapted to ChaCha. Not the Ballroom ChaCha with its exaggerated and stiff movements.

Gotcha--- there are several groups that include Guajira style on their cd,s

heres a couple --- Cafe Latino and The Music of Cuba .

Descarga, in NY, probably has both of these .( plus a bunch more )

Terrence, I've got a feeling dosvueltas and Sia are looking for instructional DVDs showing how to dance cha cha, not cha cha music...

Will these help?

Definitly no "exaggerated and stiff movements". I have their Int/Adv Cha Cha DVD - they teach club/mambo style: relatively compact dancing on 2, forward and back (not side to side), CBL.
