Do any Londoners know if Janet and/or Rafael are doing any classes at the moment?

Rafael was at Ronnie Scotts on Friday, don't know if anyone here is a regular at Ronnies, but as you can imagine he was very popular there.

But back to my point, now i have the time (exams over! ) i need to start doing some more classes again, so if anyone can help out with the q id be very grateful!

I'm afraid that I don't know - they were performing at the carnival de cuba last week, but I've not heard of any classes - if I hear I'll let you know.

Thanks

Claire xx

They are coming to teach in Glasgow next Sunday -- if I get a chance (and remember -- my brain tends switch off when salsa music starts ) I'll ask them.

Salseralon,

I asked Janet. She says she only does privates. Didn't ask Rafael (I was so excited I got a dance with him I forgot to ask  -- sorry!).

Hi Saleralon

My information, which maybe slightly out of date, is that Janet and Rafael are teaching Thursdays, at Hob Goblin in Brixton. I do not know how convenient it is for you? (The one time I went, we drove. I did note that it is some distance from Brixton tube station so you have to walk, take a bus or catch a cab :? )

I saw some fliers (about 2 months ago?) that Janet was doing a ladies class on Saturdays in North London. Again, unfortunately, I am unsure whether this is still going on.

But, worth investigating/followingup... :D

Sometimes, they do classes with MamboCity mambocity.co.uk so another option could be to join MamboCity's email list and look out for when they are listed.

If it is Cuban style salsa you are after, there are a number of other options

- Mondays, Buffalao Bar in Islington. Susan and Jim are the teachers and Janet and Rafael have done stuff with them in the past.

- Afrocuban Pati (don't remember the website but you can get it from Google ;) ) do events/dance nights. Osbanis has done stuff with them and I really like his energy and style. He has also collaborated with Rafael and Janet.

- If your budget can stretch to it, there is a Cuban weekender in Stavanger, Norway. Afrocuban Pati are involved in it and last year, the weekender was in London. This year, it is in Stavanger. Next year, it will be in Denmark? The event rotates between three cities.

- Other names to look out for - Lazaro & Paola, Ariel and Kerry Ribchester (Kerry is more around the UK than London, I believe, but she does do workshops in London from time to time), Julian "The Duke" (haven't been to one of his classes, and for me, I know him more as a DJ than a teacher - but still fun to dance with!)
