...Milton Cobo dance. :D I mean, he really "dances"! This is my opinion only of course but he has to be one one most "romantic" "dancers" that I've ever seen. Just watching the follows enjoy the dance with him says it all. This question is for the leads. How important is it to you to really be able "dance" in the midst of all you have to worry about? I mean, you're leading (of course) but you're also a traffic controller, music interpreter, movement initiator, etc. How important is to you to really be able to "dance" in the midst of the three to five minutes of chaos?

I also like watching James Cobo dancing... I like it that his attention is on his partner and he's really into the dancing rather than being a crowd pleaser (not that he is not one :P ) Also, he's style's quite unique.

No, not particularly, HA. Was using him as my frame of reference for the leads. Both brothers are quite impressive. :P

Not shure I got the question but I give it a try. For me it is important to atleast have some connection between both dances and to enjoy the music together. Dancing when only thinking about the technical "stuff" is boring.

Hi SC! Good to see you! :D How lucky are you! I love watching the Cobo brothers dance and the reaction of the people they are dancing with. Most follows are quite happy dancing with them. And it seems that they really "show off" the follows and are really able to "dance" themselves which, for some reason to me, seems really hard especially if you're a beginning lead and have so many other things to worry about.

......Dancing when only thinking about the technical "stuff" is boring.Yes, PR. :D That's what I'm getting at. Technique is a great foundation but there has to be some time when the leads in particular have to throw it out the window and be able to just dance. I know it's quite important for me as a follow. Just wondering how it was for leads.

It could be that it's a difficult/tricky question to answer? :?

It could be that it's a difficult/tricky question to answer? :?Difficult to answer? :?

Well, let's try it another way... And follows, if you want to answer the question as well, please do....

Which is more important for leads: Being able to dance or just doing the moves? Do you really care about your own musicality? Do you listen to the music for your own interpretation? What about shines? Do you wait until then to show your own dancing style or sabor? So your style of dancing change with format of the song? Fast, slow, playful, romatic, soulful? What, what, what! I'm just dying to know.....

Yes Peach! It is important for me as a leader to "feel" the music instead of only hearing it. I think it becomes more and more important for a dancer to be able to adjust to the music the more advanced you are. If you are a beginner you are only able to focus on your patterns and steps, because you have not enough "processing power" left over to the musicality, but when you become more advanced you don't need to think about your steps and patterns anymore and therefore are able to focus on the musicality instead. My two cents...

Hi PR. :) Here's another thread on the subject started by NickieP this morning. Does the music move you - or do you just do the moves? (http://www.salsaforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=506)
