Why is it that every latino party has this drink served for no charge, but nobody dares to have some? How does it taste like? Anyone have a good recipe? I might try to make some at home.

HHmmm, I've been to plenty of latino parties and have never heard of this drink.

Oh, I love that drink. Unfortunately, if you want to make a real caipirinha you have to get brazilian sugar cane spirit, Cachaça (some places use something called Pitú instead), which can't be bought in shops here in Finland.
The recipe is simple, cachaça, lime and sugar. Then some crushed ice. Wikipedia probably has something to say as well...
Some people say that the high sugar content makes your body absorb the alcohol faster. Maybe that's why peopple don't drink it. I have it sometimes, but most of the time I just drink cuba libre or some soft drinks.
