Apologies if there is another thread of this type in here (I couldn't find one!) but I was just wondering where everyone was from - there are a lot of people who are heading to different parts of the world and it would be good to have a place where you can find out if any of the great salseras / salsaros on here are anywhere near for recommendations on good dancing - as well as maybe meeting up for a night on the tiles :D

So I thought I'd start this off by saying my name is Claire (as my username might suggest! :wink: ), I'm based in London, but often dance all over the UK - so if anyone is either already over this way, or is heading this way at any point then let me know and I'll see if I can help out.

I also have quite a lot of contacts and info on salsa in different places due to the salsa holidays we run so if anyone needs help the shout and I'll see what I can do!! :D

Have you ever done any of the salsa lessons at the Latin Quarter, near Euston? i was thinking of going, but havent heard of any recommendations for it.

Cool - no I haven't - although I live in London because I'm always out promoting I quite often salsa outside of the city around the UK - might be giong down to Bar Salsa tonight though which is normally a good night out...

I think we should define SF's own patterns to the big Rueda gathering. Could you please help me to define a "SF uno" or a "SF dos" :?: Please go and help out on SF's own Rueda patterns (http://www.salsaforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=459). :D

Last weekend of Club Latino at Upstairs @ Ronnie Scotts this weekend, although there have been different dates said, salsoteca.com says that this weekend is the last. So if anybody is wanting to go to Club Latino @Ronnies, u need to keep checking to see where they move it to.

Rumour is Rouge on Charing Cross Road.

my name is Tiago, right now I'm in Portugal, but I'll be moving to London in the beginning of August since I just got a job there! I have two comments:

1. Where is that Latin Quarter spot near Euston? I will work just next to Euston, so I'm very interested!

2. Is London salsa still strong in August? Aren't all major schools, classes and venues on holidays then? What are the places to go to in August?

I worked there for some months last year, and I used to go to Bar Salsa, Sound, SOS, and My Place. This time, and since I am staying much longer (at least one year), I hope to get to know more of the local scene and further afield in the UK.

for tchaguito.... check out www.latinquarter.org.uk (if you haven't already). As long as you follow the map on there you should find it easy, but if you need anymore help once your here your more than welcome to ask :). bear in mind they only do lessons there because there was a mis-leading advertisment once about it being a club :?

If your around Euston obv your so central (i live near there :) ) so i 2nd claire if you ever want to come out leave me a msg and ill fill u in on all the london August hotspots!

P.S - Ronnie Scotts clarified that there not shutting until September, as a few dates had been mentioned as i said earlier, for any body who wants to go there

Hey - I've had an idea - (not this week because I'm desparately recovering from the weekend!) - but how about we organise a SF / DF night out in London for us all to meet up?

Would be good to meet you guys in person and what better way to do it than a night out in the city all together?

Just a thought - let me know what you think people... :D

my name is Triinu, I'm Estonian but will soon be moving to Manchester (middle of August). Been into Cuban style salsa for the past 8 years and want to keep it up and learn more - am looking for classes, where to find the local Cuban salsa aficionados/as, etc. I'm also interested in the Cuban rumba (yambu, guaguanco...) lessons - are there any classes?

Dance, Cuban music and Spanish have become more than my lifestyle during the past years, I'd really like to keep myself immersed in it all during my time in the UK. As the options for dancing salsa in Estonia have been rather limited (been travelling for salsa quite a bit, in order to keep on learning), I am very excited about the new prospects, encounters and experience to be had

Should you be able to help me out with a few tips, it would be very-very highly appreciated.

Hi everyone,
I am already established in London, and have already been to a couple of places. Tonight I will be going to Great Portland street for the Salsa Fusion party. Last week I was in the City for a wonderful party hosted by Mambo city, and I "spoiled" there, because you had just DJ Julian the Duke playing...
I noticed the level here is very high, I mean, most dancers were advanced, I am used to a scene where there a few advanced, but the staple dancers are beginners/intermediate. At first was scary, but then I realized this is actually good for my personal evolution. And the good thing is that most followers are friendly, and women invite much more than in my native Portugal.

Talk about nice honeymoon's and vacations. :) How long ago, Mistress Mambo? Can't believe I've never been to NJ. I have a sister there. :) Hopefully in the next year, I'll be able to come further North, especially at Christmas time. (Too hot in Florida) Next time you come this way, let us know. :)

This was in March 04. We mainly stood at Miami Beach but went to Universal Studios in Orlando for 1 day. You should visit NJ one day... maybe we can meet up.. ;) We speak about going to Miami and/or Orlando again -- maybe next year! Will let you know.
