Thanks for you help, peachexploration. Lotsa choice I see. The DC scene is fine, but limited and you really need guidance here.
Just saw also on the web Strictly Salsa on Sundays at Fiesta Havana. Is this active?

Yes, check this site  salsa-uk.com Seems to be pretty accurate. :)
Any other UK natives around today that could help DC as well? Chime in when you can. :)

Hi Salsarauk. Welcome to Salsa Forums. :D
Thanks to all. Loooking forward to London on Sunday!!!
Went last Sunday to Fiesta Havana---Strictly Salsa (I asked earlier for advice on London clubs as I'm from Washington).
Anyway, I thought it was wonderful. The instructors seemed patient and very competent - complex moves sometimes. Fun shines! Atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming.
Guys in London, you're lucky--- a galaxy of women to dance with and very sociable.
Indeed, it was "strictly salsa" - just 1 or 2 merengues and bachatas.
For me, I'm not personally into cuban salsa music that much - prefer Colombian/Puerto Rican type so it seemed like too much cuban to me as the night went on. But this is not a criticism (it's my personal preference) and the place is named Fiesta Havana after all so take this in the intended spirit.
My congratulations to the hosts - I recommend it highly.
Thanks, from a DC salsero.
Will go to "Sound" on June 7 and let you know.

Glad you enjoyed Fiesta Havana, Sound is a lot bigger, so not as intimate. But it is more Colombian salsa, and more of a mix, reggaeton etc. If I'm about I'll PM you and maybe we can meet up.

Sorry - I've only just started coming here regularly so I was a bit late to offer help on this!!
May well pop down to Sound on the 7th - so I might see you there!

As promised, here's my 'review" of Sound last Tuesday.
All in all, a fun experience. Decided to go with an open mind and go with the flow....
So, not strictly salsa at all and I found myself not only dancing to the likes of Gran Combo but also 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, as well as meringue and bachata.
A night with a diffence indeed....anyway, in the spirit of adventure, took my first Rueda class----not bad, I realize that you could screw up and once about 70% of the team gets it at any point then the whole thing still looks good. I'd thought Rueda was very unforgiving, but not so!!! Maybe I'll do it again if the mood strikes me.
Oh, and I think its wonderful how self-assured the women are in asking you to dance....
In the end, I enjoyed the London jaunts....the life lesson? When in London---

(I see there's a Congress here in DC starting tomorrow so am back in time....)
