That's fantastic, MRD!  I'm curious. How does everyone hear the calls. Loud speaker maybe? Also, if people from all parts of the world attending, would be interesting to see how they interpret the moves when called. Still going to be fun I'm sure. Casino Rueda :rocker:s! :)

400 couples!
That's a lot! You will probably never come back to your first partner during the whole session!

Do someone videotape it? I would like to see how it goes!

I guess that's going to be world record. I hope that quantity won't overcloud quality.

The beauty and elegance is what Casineros look on the Rueda. But my question is: ¿there'll be no one dancing and showing of in the center, nor crossing over?

How is it gana look?

Ruedas that I've been in to that look elegant and professional did'nt pass 30 pairs.

Beyong a agiven # it looks but a circle, nothing else.

Jorge Alfaro, soloist of Guaracheros de Regla, organized a 30 couples Rueda in 1967 in Patricio Lumumba and it had to be done with hand signals. With that many people, rhythm is not there. Nothing but moves and spins. It looked stale (at least to Cuban taste).

Now, if the idea is to push numbers and not style and rhythm, that's different.

I have yet to see it. For those who are new to it, it's just fine.

If you are in a big Rueda, there is not enough chance for creativity. That's what makes a Rueda pretty. Big does not mean better.

But that's my Havanian humble opinion.

I'm really curious about how all the people will cordinate... jeje, it's gonna be a funny mess :)
And i agree with you Guarachero, big ruedas doesn't let too much space for creativity..... Anyway, i'm sure you will have a great time MRD!

Please tape that if you are not going to be in it. I sure hate to find out who is going to be doing what you avatar is doing right now. Just kidding.

Nice one! Question... do you know if it is going to be one big circle or several circles or circles within circles? I wish I could be there to see it!

I love rueda.

I just don' want to be in it. I'll stay as a viewer. I guess I'll be lughing or applauding :applause: Quantity will compromise quality

Too durn many people. I've never been on a Rueda that big  Like I said, quantity will probably compromise quality. Rueda is about choreography, coordination and synchrony. That many people will only impress the laymen, not Casineros.

here in cyprus(whenever i am there), although being a small country we do have a descent fair of salsa partys. In many occasions we dance rueda with more than 30 couples inside a club. We do that by creating many circles, one inside another and the head dancer uses wireless mic and the club's speakers ;) If they try 400 couples maybe they could do it in a stadium , and use their audio facilities as well...maybe 1967 wasnt that common ? :)

That's impressive, especially if you can get that sort of number without prior organisation. When rueda starts spontaneously in clubs in my area, it's usually somewhere between 2 - 6 couples I think. Never more than 10. we've had a double-circle rueda once in a classroom situation though. A lot of fun but damn hard to hear the calls (no mic) or see the hand signals.
