Before I start - If any mod thinks this thread should be in member reviews, please feel free to move it.
When I was in Chicago I saw a trailer for the forthcoming Hevtor Lavoe biopic starring Marc Antony and J-Lo (trailer was before Pan's Labyrinth, which I heartily recommend although it's astonishinglysurprisingly gory in places, but I digress ...). As always, the trailer made the movie look superb - of course, the music is from a fabulous period of salsa music history, but MA looked the part and J-Lo can be an excellent actress when she tries (for example that movie she did with George Clooney for Stephen Soderberg).
My question is whether anyone thinks this movie might be an "I Walk the Line" for salsa music and encourage new interest from people who have false preconceptions of the music, fashions and characters or whether it's likely to turn out to be an ego-driven movie of the week that tells us more about the reigning King and Queen of latinish pop than it does Mr Levoe.
I'm also wondering whether this is likely to get any kind of release in the UK.
