Marvin Santiago (December 26, 1947 - October 6, 2004)

From Puerto Rico. Very famous during the 1970s and once again you are beginning to hear him frequently on the radio.

His music catalog includes collaborations with Bobby Valentin, "Rompecabezas", ("Puzzle") and "Soy Boricua" ("Im a Boricua"). He has also worked such artists as Celia Cruz, Ruben Blades, Pellin Rodriguez, Roberto Rohena, Andy Montanez, Fania Orchestra and many others.

Despite bad health during the 1990s, he still went on with his music, releasing the "Donde lo Dejamos" ("Where we Left") CD in 1992 with Valentin and releasing a greatest hits CD. I think his greatest hits CD is awesome.

Marvin is no longer with us physically but his music is still very much alive and guaranteed to be heard in the die hard salsa clubs. What's your favorite Marvin Santiago song? Did you ever see him in concert? What do you think is special about his musical legacy?

Love that song! Now I have to put it on right now.

2. Sonero
3. La Libertad
4. La Buruquena De Dona Ines
5. El Mangoneo
6. Hipo De Conejo
7. Vasos De Colores (llooovveee this one! :) )

This might be my favorite, at least on this compilation. (There's some stuff with Bobby Valentin that I might like as much or even more, but we are talking about minor differences in utter amazingness.)

8. Nostalgia
9. Fuego Al Cubo
10. Al Son De La Lata Baila El Chorizo

Disc: 2

That sort of thing seems to happen a lot, especially with the Latin music samples (not just on amazon, but elsewhere).

Uh, Fania guys, how about remastering Afuera some time soon?

"El Jibaro Y La Naturaleza" (w/ Bobby Valentin) is insane (in a good way). He just pummels you with rhythm on that one.

 Hothouse, I'm glad you understood what I was trying to say. I just re-read my post. :nope: I just edited it to read:

I think I understood it because I didn't actually read it, I must have just scanned it. All I needed were the keywords "CD," "songs," "tracks," and "switched." :)
