So how did you spend your new years?

Well, I wasn't planning on going out dancing on New Years because I had such a lame time last year. But to be honest I went out cus I didn't have anything else going on. I went snowboarding on Saturday and Sunday and would have been too tired to go again monday (I had the day off of work) so I decided to go out dancing on Sunday and rest on Monday.

Well, the new year's celebration was mediocre. It wasn't bad - but it wasn't all that good either.

Also, the DJ didn't do a ten second count down. I talked to a friend of mine who has lived all over Europe and she said that the ten second count down isn't all that common in Europe (Don't know if thats true - but that what she told me). But in the US its totally traditional and New Years didn't feel right without it. The DJ was rather arogant - he was blabbering on about something or another and then all of a sudden he said something to the effect of "and by the power vested in me I grant it the new year" - and everyone was confused. People were all looking at eachother like - what just happened - did the new year just come??? Then everyone started toasting and drinking champaign and kissing and then that was the new year. It was rather anti-climactic without the new year. I talked to the promoter and told him not to invite that DJ back again until he can learn to count to ten!!

So how was everyone else's new year?

I'm a firm believer that NYE is overrated.

Traditionally I've been deliberately staying away from all the madness......the one year I was out, I was actually working at the door of a salsa event!

This year, we were over the moon that our bathroom renovation finished in time for us to finally move back home (after 3 loooong mths at my parents place  ). We simply prefer to potter around instead of going out ;) !

So after seeing a movie late afternoon, we were home to be couch potatoes. We opened a bottle of beautiful dessert wine & I made a lemon pudding :D . We watched Tarantino marathon on cable & only realised it was midnight when the fire works in the city came on.....

It was good 8) .

Well, mine was awful. I spent it in tears resulting from a huge fight with family (mother's side). But the upside to it is that there were alot of things that needed to be said. I'm okay with it. And thankfully, I can leave all the heartache in 2006. 2007 is new uplifting year for me already. I'm finally getting to know my other siblings (father's side) and I am truly thankful for that. :D

Well, it was a bit of a poo Christmas so New Year was an improvement.

I have an older brother who is disabled (deaf with severe learning difficulties) and just before Christmas he lost two fingers at work. So Christmas involved a lot of travelling to and from hospital and a lot of worry. The surgeon operated to try and reattach one of the fingers but the other was too badly damaged (went through a shredding machine) but it was a waiting game to see if it worked.

Anyhoo, the good news (and the reason New Year was an improvement) is the finger is doing well! He's a tough cookie and I know he will adjust to the one missing finger in time, if it was the two it may have been much harder to adapt. Apparently he nearly lost his whole hand so we have to look on the positive side and thank God he didn't.

Wishing everyone all the best for 2007! :D

Here in the UK we traditionally have the chimes of Big Ben. We count the 12 major chimes and then cheer :D

I had a good night's dancing with friends and newcomers down in Southampton.

Thanks, Terre. :) What a wacky DJ. :? Thank goodness we both can leave our bad experiences in 2006. Jambo, I'm glad your brother is recovering after such a tramatic experience.

Went to a friends house for a small party. No dancing involved, but there was Nintendo Wii Tennis and bowling :-)

There was a salsa night down here in Bath, at the University in a great venue, however that was my backup plan as I only knew a few people that were going, and I wanted to spend new year with a few friends.

But maybe 2007 I will be closing out with dancing :)

Thank you for your kind words, he's been very brave and positive so I know he'll be fine :) Apparently when his workmates were busy looking for the fingers all he could say was 'I'm not in trouble am I? Will I get sacked?' He's an inspiration to me (I moan at a stubbed toe  ).

I'm glad to hear your borther is recovering well Jambo...As for me..ehh..my NYE wasn't all that great either. My sister had to work, so the whole family went to her restaraunt and kept her company. But like SalsaChinita says...I think NYE is overrated anyways
