My boss is going to try salsa dancing :)

My boss just came in and told me that he got salsa lessons for christmas! This is totally hilarious - he is a very conservative individual and really doesn't like dancing - but his wife wants to go so she bought him lessons.

Oh this is too much - It took everything I had not to bust up laughing - I can't wait to see him on the dance floor!!!!
 
Dude - my boss is 42 and he has never danced before. He is a stereo typical cowboy from the Mid-western part of the US. He grew up in a small farming town - where men are not supposed to do things like dance because it is too femenine - thats what makes it even funnier!!!
 
Thats some funny stuff. The people at work found out that I dance as well and now half of the office are thinking of starting lessons and coming out dancing. It feels weird though cos I go dancing to just relax, let go and sometimes to escape from work and everyday life. That's why anyone who sees me dance is so surprised cos I'm so different from what I'm like at the office.

It'll still be fun watching them though! :)

Yeah I know what you are saying. While I thinks its funny to see my boss out - if he becomes a regular I'm sure it will be strange - I see enough of him already.
 
I work with a bunch of (mostly) colourful, extroverted people. Our office envirronment is more like a university common room (I wonder what the US equivelant might be?) than a work place!!!

The fact that I dance salsa hardly even cause an eyebrow-raise! In fact, we got *lots* of showbiz personalities (muso, DJ, singer, dancer, actors...you name it), I would not be the least suprised if they all turn up at salsa clubs (and many of them are regulars, too).......

The US equivalent to what? A university common room? Yeah, we have university common rooms :lol: fun places.

As far as your work goes, yeah I do work in a very conservative environment - your work sounds like much more fun place to be!!!

Yep. I'm lucky that I found this place. After three years of no work, all salsa, this has got to be the best choice for moi to re-assimilate back into 9-5 (-ish) mode ;) .

In my experience this is usually the DEATH KNOLL for his dancing, if not his marriage :-)

A good proportion of my time in beginner classes is spent breaking up the married couples so that the guy can get some space to learn at his own pace without his lady undermining him all the time... nothing stunts a man's performance as much as being henpecked :-)
 
OK so my boss' salsa career ended after one lesson. He tried it once and that was it. He said he felt funny and he looked stupid.

So much for seeing him out at the salsa club.

Poor guy. :( He should have at least given 6 lessons a try. I don't think anyone should give up dance after one dance. The first class for a non-dancer is always misleading. Especially, when the defenses are already in high gear. Hmm, maybe something like the waltz would be more suitable for him. :(
 
I always use sports analogies with guys...

"did you score a goal the first time you took a shot at goal?" or "did the ball go where you wanted it to the first time you hit it with a raquet?" "Nope I bet it didn't but you kept practicing until you could do those things. Salsa is no different, it's skill you have to learn and practice - just like sports."
