I'm thinking of relocating for reasons spelled out in my dealing with health problems thread (allergies and other sinus problems). Of course, I'm not going to move without checking it out first, and I'm really not sure I could even find a job there, but tell me what you know about living there. Everything from cost of living to availability of good Chinese food, to (of course) opportunities for salsa dancing.

That cracked me up! I guess no one here is from NM.

I thought I would beat others who might give me that link or something similar, in addition to the joke factor.
I'm hoping to visit NM this summer, and if so, will report back on its salsa scene, or lack of one if that's what I find.

What part of NM?
I have been to Las Cruces and Roswell - if you want to know about those two places I can give you my two cents.

Really, I'm mostly interested in Albuquerque, although I would be interested in knowing more about Las Cruces. Roswell sounds kind of grim. (I guess when I started the thread I was less focused specifically on Albuquerque.)

Yeah Roswell is grim. There is nothing to do there for fun - there is a skiing resort about an hour away but thats about it. I highly doubt anyone has ever heard of salsa - also, the town is very, hhhmm, well - conservative. Not very many people leave and not very many people move there - and they are very secluded from any other big city. So its a small town that doesn't really change very much.
As for Las Cruces - I was there a while back but it was before I salsa danced. But it seemed like a cool college town to hang out. It could be fun for a couple of years - but it seemed so small that after a couple of years it would probably get pretty old. A lot of people go to Juarez and party because its not too far away.
Thats all I can tell you about NM - unfortunately I haven't been to albequerque.
