I read about this in the American Airlines flight magazine the other day. Wonder if anyone has checked it out. :D

Went to a talk about he history of Salsa music given by DJ Lubi at last weekend's Brit Salsafest and this book was one he recommended. Said there were a lot of fabulous photgraphs of the 70s heavyweights and long candid interviews in which the subjects are very forthright in their opinions. A lot of bitchiness and backstabbing going on. He said that although it was expensive, if you had the cash spare it was well worth getting.
Have to say - I've not read it though.

I know the author and she gave us over a dozen books as a sponsor of the 5th Annual WSF World Salsa Championships. I believe it is must have for and Salsa enthusiast

I came across this book tonight in the salsa bar. It was a bit slow, and I ended up reading it at the bar for a good half an hour... Fantastic book. Guys like Tito Puente, Rubin Blades, Eddie Palmieri, and numerous others, going into their background and ideas about salsa. Totally inspiring, and full of insightful ideas. A must have indeed!

I have it. Its mostly about the era of the 60's though 80's as told by the artists with many photos. I have seen half priced copies on amazon (of course I saw them after I bought mine at full price). Its a good book if you wanted to know what the musicians back in the day looked like plus there are interviews of writers, producers and others who are behind the scene. My only critical comment is that is is only about the NY scene in that era.
