Hi Arli! :) Are you speaking specifically about Casino or Casino Rueda? In general I think in Cuba, Salsa dancing goes by the name of Casino. There is also Rueda de Casino (Casino Wheel), a formation made up of at least two couples and a "caller or leader" who "calls" out the moves and the members respond.

One of the main differences with casino style is the circular motion as oppose to the slot motion that LA style has. Hope this helps.

You can read more info here  salsa-in-cuba.com
Gotta run, pretty swamped at work today. :)

Hi to all, I m a new arrived here,... Im italian but few times for business i spend time in USA near NYC or LA.

You can think strange,...but in Italy, is there a lot of Cuban people,..emigrate here in the latest years, for this in italy the Cuban style is the first Salsa style know in the club.

The cuban / Casino style is really easy like as technics because born from the social party, where ..if woman...follow the rhytm,..she can dance, because man, can guide her with out problem.

The style is caraterized by:- no double turn for ladies
- Much of moviment joke of Man
- Moviment really close with ladies and gentlemen
- what the man looking for in any steps, is create contact,...seduxion,... feeling, sensual,...etc...

In italy one of most famouse Cuban style dancer is Roly Maden from Cuba

But really extraordinary for this style is there to Henry Herrera

Hello guys.

Sorry for not replying earlier but Iv been lacking a connection past days.
Anyway, thanks for the info..basicly i knew what the diffrence between LA and Cuban salsa was, as I dance both (mostly cuban) but you dont usually call it "casino" here in Sweden so thats why I was a bit confused and thought that it might have been a third style that i was not familiar with ;) ..

Thanks again for the info!

Cheers.

Hi...

some points about cuban style and casino style...

when we talk about cuban dances, the original ones, before the fifties, before the name salsa was introduced, we talk about

son
guaguanco
rumba

etc...

After the world war 2 and before the revolution, Cuba was one of the favourite destination for the americans, that brought there some of their "new" dances boogie-boogie, swing and rock'n'roll...
the mix between the american dances and the cuban ones and the birth of mambo, brought in their style patterns like dile que no, enchufle (both coming from boogie and swing).
At that time young people used to meet in the old Casino'...
That was the origin of the casino name and style...

:applause: Right on the ball Gurú:

The mixture of Jazz, Son and other animals forced people to dance in pairs. El Casino Dance Club and Conjunto Casino of Roberto Faz, who used to play there, were the points of birth of Casino. Later, the famous Casino de la Alegría in CMQ television put the seal when had Conjunto Casino in the musicalization of that evening program.

That's why I like this forum. People here know their stuff :bouncy: and may be why lurkers don't want to adventure in (LOL).
