Salsa in San Francisco

Hi there!

Im visiting San Francisco from 13th December - 21st December - Im just wondering if anyone can recommend some good salsa clubs/bars? I dance cross body in the UK, and occasionally some cuban and would really appreciate some recommendations of friendly places to go. I've been dancing for about 2 years - hear that California is meant to be good for footwork and shines, as opposed to the UK where everyone seems to be obsessed with spins!

Thanks in advance!

My suggestions:

The best places in the bay area are:

Allegro Ballroom in Emeryville. Huge dance floor, DJ, super dancers, great salsa party with over 100 people on Sunday evenings. (Caveat: purely dancing with no alcoholic beverages). [My score : 4.5 out of 5]

Cafe Cocomo in SF. Large floor, live music, great party on Thursday evenings, with a lot of great dancers. Saturday's party is also fine, but a lot of crowds go there just for drinking etc. [My score 4 out of 5]

Glaskat is great on Tuesdays. Live music. The floor is a bit smallish, but with a lot of excellent dancers and great atmosphere. [My score 3.5 out of 5]

Downlow in Berkeley on Wednesdays. Live music. The floor is about the same size as of Glaskat. The crows is very mixed: some people just drink, but still a lot of great dancers. [My score : 3 out of 5]

Roccapulco in SF, Fridays. Big floor, but the atmosphere is not as nice. The crowd is very mixed. [My score : 3 out of 5]

Club Montero in Albany [Fr/Sat] Extremely loud live music, small floor, huge crowd. The ratio of good dancers is relatively low. [My score: 2.5 out of 5]

Maiko's in Berkeley [Sat]. Every second week live music. Medium size floor. Used to be nice, but getting less and less popular. [Bertween 2 and 3.5 depending on the particular evening].
