Great thread starter for the performers out there. Here is a great article providing some insight on choosing a song for your performance:
See  salsanewyork.com/magazine/articles/choosing_song.htm

Some highlights are:
* Tips on making the performance look varied and not boring.
* Call & Response section of the song.
* Example of the structure of song.

Also, please feel free to talk about other aspects of performing in regards to Salsa. :D

I guess I'm no performer yet.....and I have a new cold. I have missed three classes this week. No dancing this weekend. Tonight I stay home and work with my salsafilms.

They day I'm ready to perform ....I'll get back to this post. Thanks Peach!

Great idea :applause:
Dancers who'll follow your suggestions may find how elegant and spicy a dance can be.

When I follow the structure or sing allong with it, it adds a tremendous accent to the dance. Even for people like me who can't sing.
