This is my third time teaching on2 at the university, and I must say that the first week of group class went very well. Here is what they did so far.
1. 30 minutes on the basic (about 27 out of 30 people are doing it perfectly...still a couple of people have trouble, but only when trying to lead turns, etc.)
2. 20 minutes on the underarm turn right (only trouble as noted in #1)
3. 10 minutes introduction to the cross body lead (went surprisingly well)
So...where should I go from here? What would you recommend I teach next?

Hmmm....Beginner class? Any kind of turns with directional changes. Will come back later with better descriptions. :)

Yes, please let me know if you have any ideas. I actually don't know too many turns that reverse directions, but I assume this is a feature that distinguishes on2 from other styles, true?

If you look at salsamor.com/loadpage.php?videos and click on the intermediate video sample. You will see three moves like the spot turn, copa/open copa and 360 crossbody. May be a little advanced for a beginner but you will almost always see these moves for On2.

The reason I mentioned turns with directional changes is because (for me) at first it was hard to figure out which beat I was on coming out of a simple turn with a change of direction such as 360 CBL.
Hope this helps a little at least. Boriken, are you out there? HELP!

Ok, that helps some. In the videos, the fly by pretty fast, but I think I can figure out a couple of the steps. Thanks. 8)

I'm not sure what is meant by directional change, but I assume it has to do with going in one direction then changing directions on a dime.
As in a natural spin stopped and then turned the other way, or a cross body where the lady is going forward then half spun and now is heading backwards.
I think teaching simple right turn and left turn for the lady and guys is good. Almost every move involves this basic moves.
The other night I was teaching my brother, granted, he isn't a paying customer, nor has a high need to learn to dance yesterday, so I actually spent close to an hour with him breaking down the music. I spoke about what to look for to find the one, where the conga played, "waves" of bars on the 8 beats and so on. After we were done, he thanked me because it made it that much simpler to consentrate on other things know that he had a basic understanding of where he was supposed to be according to the structure of the music.
just a thought....
