I'm going to New Orleans in mid October and I'm wondering if anyone knows if there's any salsa events happening during the weekends. If there are, I'd stay for the weekend, otherwise I'd just return on Friday.
Thanx

Any New Orleanders in the SF house? This is what I found at Salsapower.com
Café Brasil
2100 Chartres Street
New Orleans, LA
Phone: 504-949-0851
Open/shows start at 10 p.m. till (about 3 or 4 a.m.)
Huge dance floor, sound system is OK (could use some work) especially when they have a live band. Be ready to SWEAT, air conditioner is not big enough for that place when it is packed, but it is very intimate, even more so than the House of Blues, and you will enjoy a good show, call for schedule.
Every Wednesday & Friday
Fredy Omar con su banda
at Café Brasil
Free salsa lessons start at 9 p.m.
Band starts at 10 p.m. till 1 a.m.

As most everyone knows, the city of New Orleans, along with much of the Gulf Coast, was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Some of the clubs listed below are open at this time, others are not. You should call the number listed to confirm.
Please donate to the American Red Cross for the hurricane relief efforts and to the Tipitina's Artist Relief Fund to help rebuild the Musical Culture of New Orleans.
Anyone else with information is much appreciated. :D
