Charanga question

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orquesta_típica

Here it says the word is a latin term for a band that plays popular music, but still doesn't explain why it's mostly charanga bands that use the term. I haven't heard of a mambo band that names itself tipica, or a son combo, or timba band all of which have fallen into the popular music category.

some bands also adopts tipica as part of it's name when most of their repertoire includes autochthonous songs from their native country.

Also Charanga is known as the kind of band that mostly plays Pachangas (Charanga La Criolla, Charanga De La 4, Charanga New York, Charanga La Moderna, Charanga La Duboney...)

Hahaha you can tell my bias when I jump at the title "Charanga question" only to immediately realize...oh I bet they don't mean La Charanga Habanera LOL
