Hi Kimo,

I no longer live in SF, but if you can't find anyone to show you around then I encourage you not to be shy in going out alone. The SF scene is a very friendly one, and you should be able to find plenty of good dances. If you can, try to go to El Valenciano (in the Mission district) tomorrow (Wednesday) night. It's a really good night, and if for whatever reason you're having a hard time getting dances you should talk to the DJ (DJ Hong). He's a really good guy (and really good dancer) who can make some introductions for you...

Good luck, and have fun in one of the world's premier salsa cities!
Z.

Wed either El valenciano for slot based style and on2 dancing, for cuban dancing lil baobab. I would actually check out both as they're pretty close to each other and the lil baobab entrance fee is only like 5 bucks, very strong and even somewhat accommodating cuban scene is worth checking out.

Thursday and Friday Cafe Cocomo is probably the safest choice.

I'm heading out to San Francisco mid September to visit a friend. Does anyone know if the Redwood City Salsa festival is on this year or recomend anywhere for dancing?

Don't know if it is on or not. Though I don't see any reason not to be.

www.salsabythebay.com is currently a good source to get info on dancing, though I don't see it include much info about cuban/casino events.

Sept is long way off. You are better of posting a week or two prior.
