Preference for Leading/Following

I have been thinking about this for a while and am curious: for those of you who can both lead and follow, do you have a clear preference for leading versus following or following versus leading, and if so, why? Or do you enjoy different aspects of both?

In thinking about this, please imagine that you are the world's best leader and follower, as the human mind has a tendency to like those things it is good at more than the things it is not good at. :)
 
I can remember only Luke who enjoyed the opposite role more.
I only prefer attending to a class as follower if I'm mentally tired. other than that, even if I like following, leading would be my first choice.

hmm there's another factor though. girls who can lead!
 
Leaders have the benefit of knowing what's going to happen. Followers have the benefit of not knowing, living in the moment and letting go.

When I'm in a car, I prefer to drive. I like to determine where we go and how we get there. My girlfriend would rather enjoy the ride.
 
I enjoy leading because I like being able to control what I'm doing relative to the music and the follower. I enjoy following because I like being able to let go for a while and enjoy the ride. That said, I generally prefer to lead because I don't like letting go THAT much. I do have a lot of fun following, but I prefer to be in control.

When I first saw people dancing, I was amazed by how they create their own combinations, connecting the moves as they like.

And when I'm doing stg, salsa or sightseeing or cinema, I prefer my close friends or cute girls. not many girls can lead though.
 
(disclaimer: I'm not a good follower - just practised it a bit to get some insights on leading better)
I guess I prefer leading for the same reason I prefer to be the one in charge in the bedroom: masculine instincts ...
