Depending on your goals and out side of class, how many hours do you practice? The ideal is at least 2-4 hours a week? Too much? Too little?

Right now since I have the complete summer off I'm taking salsa classes 4 times a week and going out to clubs at least twice a week but when I was in school I would go to class twice a week but i think an avg of 4 hours a week is good. You can basically practice anywhere even if you practice just your basic while standing in line or sumting would be beneficial to you in the end.

I haven't practiced much lately what with going out to the clubs all the time:)

If inclub time is considered practice, I normally "practice" about 5-10 hours a week.

Yes Vin, that counts too. :D Glad to know you're doing well. Now, I have to get mine gear. Not practicing nearly enough.

hiyos.. :)

when i first started as a beginner i invested about 20hs in a week on a crazy week.. objective was to get good / acceptable dance competence with the intermediates at the shortest span of time possible. it gets real tiring.. but the efforts paid off when a friend was amazed and commented that i've improved significantly. so i guess practisin hard with a goal in mind helps alot.!

these days i do about 7hrs a week totallin in class.. club and home practises..

Usually I have class 1,5 -2,5 hours per week plus practicing with a friend a little bit. Then I go club dancing 1 or 2 times a week for about 4 or 5 hours each. When we are preparing for a performance we practice between 4-6 times a week.

Thanks Peach, The little salsablues was shortlived. Actually been on a really great salsa-wave since the new year. I would bet that I have gone out 50% of the nights this year.

I have an hour lesson on Thurs. But I go clubbing Fri and Sat to practice, for about 3 hours each time. So 7 hours total.

2 hours every evening after work, as exercise;
driving time to and from work listening to Salsa,
and about 4 hours every time any club has Salsa.

I practise about 6 -10 hours a week, but thats becuz i was unsure of a couple moves... combo's to be specifc. Everyone in the class doing the same basic moves so i've invested in a couple dvd's to take my style to the next level :D

I could say i'm practicing all the time: even when there's no music, i can imagine it, so i start dancing by myself. I have noted that people start looking at me like a really weird girl, but it really doesn't matter. In fact, after that, most of them give me a smile, so i can say i'm making their day a little nicer ;)

Well. That sounds pretty. My grand son dances to Fidel Castro's speaches and to the news.

That's a real salsero. Jimedoc, you sound Cubanly. (LOL).

Well, thanks, that's a compliment to me considering how much i like to dance and that i love how cubans dance!
Lo único que yo se es que, no importa cuánto tiempo dediques a practicar, pero si no sientes realmente la música, por más pasos que sepas no podrás bailar con sabor
Sorry for that, didn't know how to write it in english, jeje

I don't practise much -- hardly ever...

It's been hard for my SO and I to find time to practise together, and apart from the spin practice I do throughout the day (only a few spins at a time), I don't really practise outside of class.

I move to the music whenever and wherever salsa music is played, and when I go to clubs I hardly ever sit down whether or not I have someone to dance with, but I wouldn't count that as practice.

Lo haces bien en los dos idiomas. Y lo expresaste con extrema claridad: la música bailable se siente. Después de todo, así comenzó el Son Montuno, con cosas del alma.

Tus expresiones son loables.
