Where to dance salsa in Singapore?

Dear all, I will spend one night in transit to Singapore (one sunday night in mid-February) before travelling onwards to another Asian country. Is there anywhere I can go to dance in Singapore?

The dancing in Singapore is great. Not sure about Sunday night though.

Best option is to contact either the school two left feet or Dansflava studios. Both are very good and I recommend checking if they have a lesson then you can go to any social afterwards.

Good luck

I just spent 10 days over in Singapore last fall, and had a blast dancing! i went social dancing at a place called Union Square a lot, but if i remember correctly, they don't do sundays.

There is a facebook group called "where to salsa in Singapore" that is updated regularly. and you can also just ask the group!

Like tchaguito, I will spend one night in transit to Singapore (one Sat night in Sept) before travelling onwards to another Asian country. I see from "where to salsa in Singapore" the school socials are listed:

En Motion
JJSalsaRengue
ACTFA School of Dance/Lumbia

So I can still go to Union Square as it is not listed? Since I have only one night to dance, where should I go? Lumbia sounds good too but maybe too many beginners on a Sat?

Sat socials at JJ are usually the best. You can hit JJ, and then switch to Union Square after JJ closes if you're that hardcore. JJ closes at 12, I believe, so you can sneak in another 2 hours at Union Square. Or you could just hit Union throughout, but the dance floor at Union is smaller.

I see JJ is quite close to The Amara (Union Square), so this sounds like a great plan, thanks.

Uh, no, they've shifted to Somerset, the Facebook address is the updated one (51 Cuppage Road #06-04). It used to be a no-brainer when it was 5 minutes walk away, but last time I was there, it was a taxi ride away (cabs are affordable in Singapore).

Wow, thanks for that reminder to check facebook, looks like I will need to stay in the Amara, so leaving JJ is just going back to my hotel ( to continue dancing). How long is the taxi ride, assuming not much traffic issue after midnight and should be easy to get a taxi?

At that time of the night, the cab should take 15mins. You should also walk to the main road (Orchard Road is 5mins walk away), not many cabs are going into Cuppage Road at that time.

I was recently in Singapore and told the taxi drive that I needed to go to 51 Cuppage Road. He then dropped me off in front of the Cuppage plaza, tell me everyone knows about that. It took me quite a bit of asking around to finally realize that "51 Cuppage Road" is a skyscraper, so next time you need to go find JJ, tell the taxi driver to find the building called "51 Cuppage Road".

By the way, JJ is a relatively small place, not like the typical NYC studios, so don't expect to find all the great dancers of Singapore there.
