It's so hard to find good new music

Hi!

I am been listening to a lot of Latin Salsa music radio lately. However, most of them seem to broadcast songs which were around for some time.

Is there any radio station that broadcast and promote new albums?

Thanks!

Well, have you tried listening to the 'Salsa de la Mata' show from Abayarde? He's definitely including new music in his shows, which are excellent anyways. Also if I'm not mistaken, then hardsalsaradio.com is also including new music in their playlist, as they were the first where I heard about dislocados for example.

tomorrow in our show (Salsa De La Mata!) will be playing new songs from new bands, like Carlos Cascante y su Tumbao, Conjunto Puerto Rico and Carlos D'Castro (Alex D'Castro Son)...

You can check out Cali based, DJ El Chino's Solarlatinclub.com, but not now as it is off air for improvements and some interesting changes. I will let everyone know when it comes on air again.

El Chino always features new releases, as well as older lesser known ones.

Okay so I clicked on Salsa de la Mata link above but it didn't take me to a radio player, so how do I find the station?

Nice collection! But how do I find out the name of the song from your broadcast?

Thanks!

Just check in "Salsa De La Mata!" thread [www.salsaforums.com/showthread.php?t=16918 ] or at my blog as shown in my signature file below.

Both includes playlists and stream links for each show.

May I ask if you carefully read the first post in that thread? The second line suggest to join Abayarde at ustream.tv/user/abayardepr for his show. So may I suggest trying to follow that link and then listen to recoded shows there? :)

May I ask if you looked at more then just the first page of the mentioned matching thread here? The fifth posts on the second page will have the playlist of the first show and if you continue reading the thread, you'll find the other playlists as well. Also if you happen to speak a little bit of spanish, you can try to listen to Abayarde giving the artist/title information in the broadcast as well. :)

A lot of 'old' music is new to me. I picked up some older stuff at Ciudad Salsa at the Feria in Cali and it sounds fresh to me even though is was recorded in the 70s.

I'm listening to the programme from Upstream but I can't see any name of song being played.

Nice, may I ask if you've overlooked this response from Abayarde himself?

Or this response from myself to {WuMing}78:

I found the blog page and can see the playlists but how do I know which song is being played if I'm not following the programme from the start? In other words there is no title banner that displays the track currently being played that I have found.
There are dozens of salsa radio station this one seems to be complicated for some reason.

Well, as I mentioned between the songs or rather sets of songs, you hear Abayarde announce the songs that he has played and that will come up next.

As for this being complicated, well, if you look at the video, you can see that you're listening to recorded live shows with the music coming from CDs. So I would venture to say it's difficult to have ID3 tags in such a stream compared to many other stations which autoplay music from a pool of ID3-tagged mp3s. Therefor I admit that it's not necessary a programm for everybody, but if you like good 'salsa de la mata' and also like to hear some new tunes included, then I would say it's one of the best shows for this purpose.

At this time, "Salsa De La Mata!" is a one man show. I run everything from the script, the playlist, DJing, live chat, monitoring, promoting and publishing everything related, with help from friends of SalsaForums.com and a few locals.

We are about to reach our first year on the web. Improvements and suggestions has being added to make it more agile and add variety in what it's offered. 98% of the included music (new and classic) is from my personal collection, bought in physical and web music stores. the other 2% are promo copies from musicians and producers that placed their trust in our work and capacity to promote their releases.

It may be easier to program the computer to play songs and show ID tags but that's not the idea, at this point. Doing so, takes out the personal touch that educates and entertains as well.

The idea behind "Salsa De La Mata!" is to show what the Salsa genre is capable to cover, trying to be objective and sampling all their sub-genres.
We also try to cover the history behind it; what the compilations without liner notes left unknown.

Yes, we have plans to do more and maybe add tags to songs but it takes time that actually I can't afford, since this is just part of a hobby. If we manage to get more time and find a few sponsors, this may be reality in the future.

"Salsa De La Mata!" may be considered as part of an experimental concept that will transform in a bigger project in the future.

I stopped buying music for ages but there seems to be a lot of older re-mastered music available now so I've bought a few cd's even though I promised myself no more :D

I prefer to buy the music and have it in a CD format with art, info and liner notes. I only buy legitimate downloads when there's no choice; in that case I demand a PDF or any alternative file format with the same info from the recording.
