5,4,3, 2......Timberamayor should be on her way to oblige. :D

If you can't wait for Timbermayor to come to you, you can always check out the Timba Geeks Yahoo group: Google is your friend.

You can find many posts by TM and others there speaking directly to what you want.

HI Nino,

I don't know exactly what type of information you are looking for but...

There was recently a thread at timba geeks about CDs in 2011.
Pasarela - Pachito Alonso
Farandula Tropical - Combinacion de la Habana
La Timba Pa' To el Mundo - Timbalive
De la Habana a Peru - Barbaro Fines y Mayimbe
Supercubano - Isaac Delgado
Acabaito de Nacer - Charanga Habinera
Todo es Posible - Wil Campa
Pupy y los que son son - Siempre Pupy
Tiempo Libre - My secret radio

  • Los Van Van's new CD la maquineria is possibly released although I haven't seen where to buy it. It isn't up at EGREM so I doubt it is really released. Probaby just illegal copies of the master.
  • Klímax also is supposed to come out this year but hasn't yet as far as I know.
  • Azúcar Negra was supposed to have one out this year. It keeps being delayed for some reason, but maybe will still be out by the end of the year.
  • Maykel Blanco y Salsa Mayor have a live dvd that should be released soon
  • You probably know that Yanesito Soneros All Stars has released a single this year Havana tiene su meneo. the full CD won't be out until 2012 however.

There are other groups that are working on new CDs such as Havana D'Primera and Maravilla de Florida but I don't know for sure when these will be out. The big discussion at Timba Geeks right now is more about Mandy Cantero performing with Los Van Van now that Mayito is out.

Also timba.com is a good source of timba news of course.

I like the blog Yemaya's Verse. When Gabriel is in Havana she updates regularly with all the gossip about what is happening in Havana.

HI Nino,
There was recently a thread at timba geeks about [Cuban music] CDs in 2011.

Hi, Timberamayor,

I tried to find this thread, but failed miserably (perhaps I didn't have the right layout - all I was able to see was hundreds and hundreds of unconnected messages?)

Any chance of a link?

Ta very muchy in anticipation,
Kind regards
HalfMan...

If you scroll down to the bottom you see the links to all the posts in this thread.

I hear a lot of new music from Cuban congress salsa workshops on youtube, some before our own Cuban DJ's get hold of it.

Another vote for Timba.com to read about bands.

For listening try live365.com search for 'timba'. Channels like 'Radio Timba'. I used to wishlist tracks I liked then look them up.
