Michael Stuart - Tributo a Louie Ramirez (Amanece y Sigue Caliente)

I'm cautiously excited about the upcoming Michael Stuart album. Judging by brief clips, the arrangements seem harder than most current commercial salsa. Still, I'm not really in love with the current single, though it seems a cut above the usual for the moment (and it's always nice to hear Alfredo de la Fe turn up on something like this):

Also, though I'm not as familiar with Louie Ramirez's output as I'd like to be, this sounds like it sticks more to his later material, and I would like to have heard at least one cover from Louie Ramirez y Sus Amigos.

And I'm not sure why it's necessary to keep re-recording "Nadie Sabe"!

But this is likely to be the only truly new salsa CD I buy this year. Before the global economy collapses and I wonder why I spent so much money on CDs over the years instead of stock-piling gold.

the promo song, "Estar Enamorado" sounds great. I'l be playing it in the next show.

good to know he's doing a Louie Ramirez tribute. but we miss a new recording from Michael with brand new songs.

I'm not wasting my time

Look I enjoy these songs. I remember back in the 80s all these songs were hits. But they've been recorded over and over again. How many tributes are going to be done with the same songs? To me, these songs belong to Louie Ramirez & Ray De La Paz POINT BLANK. It's cool to introduce to a whole new audience, but getting someone like Michael Stuart to sing these CLASSICS was a very bad idea for RLM Productions....who ever the hell that is. It seems to me that "RLM" is trying to be a little like "RMM" which Ray & Louie were signed to until Louie passed away. Also, Michael Stuart hasn't recorded an album since like 2007 so I'm assuming he saw the opportunity to record well known classics from a hard hitting Sonero who is still hitting strong till this day with the Spanish Harlem Orchestra. For that matter, if it were me, I would've just got Ray De La Paz to do it! My point is, let Michael Stuart do his OWN thing & leave the classics to REAL soneros. I'm going to dare to say this right now......it's just like when Marc Anthony re-recorded Hector Lavoe's songs. Marc has an excellent voice, but to me didnt have the heart like Hector did. DONT TOUCH THE CLASSICS! A word of advice to the producers, engineers, anyone else who worked on this CD, & any DJ's who plan on playing this CD in the clubs....never forget who the real soneros are & where the REAL hits came from....(this post is dedicated to all REAL soneros who are still here & the ones who have left us.)

Not wasting my time on this CD I'm too old to hear a young buck think he's a salsero

I just came from a private party where Michael Stuart performed live with his orchestra in Gurabo, Puerto Rico... he was simply great... 4 songs from his new CD were greatly performed...
As said, I would love to see a new brand CD with new songs from him, but his tribute to Louie it's a great step. a lot of young people were actually dancing and enjoying it... if they know Louie by Michael's effort, is not a loose battle...
