Hello everyone!! I'm new to the forum and to Salsa.
I'm from Puerto Rico. Just wanted to give everyone a Head's Up on the Salsa congress. It's been great and fun!!! and even for me that I'm a beginner!!.
El Gran Combo, Andy Montanez, Roberto Roena, Sonora Poncena and many more. It's absolutely wonderful experience. It feels good that Salsa is still outthere (since it's not getting enough airplay in FM radio here in Puerto Rico-- it's been replaced with Reggaeton).
I have to say sometimes its a little intimidating to just go out there and dance with all those professional dancers. It's absolutely fun to watch and learn all the different styles and moves. Plus the different places people come from.

It was a great congress, but many of those who write reviews forget to mention that the first 3 days there were no dance floor for the dance parties + it was completely dark. The socializing, bands, performances, competition was great though.

i have to say that the PR Salsa Congress was one of the best ever I have been to (been to about 6 others in the last 18 months, including LA/west coast).
Despite organisation and dance floor issues, it was great social environment and great location which made it just wonderful for me.
Of course Oliver and Luda winning the Salsa Open topped it all off. Watching the professionals move on the stage and dance floor was just inspiring as were the bands!
All and all a great congress that I made some friends out of! Definitely hope to get back there next year. :D
