What are your plans for New Year's Eve?
Any of the clubs having bands/big parties?

I'm still working on mine. We have a nice place in this area called the Samba room that I'mm thinking about but I'm cutting it pretty close though. Just around the corner....

I'll be dancing somewhere -- the question is where (or, to be more precise, which one of the two). Busy trying to get things organised for the night at the moment.

Our only Salsa club is holding a party... but I doubt there will be any Salsa... :(

I'm just going to go over to some friend's house with my wife, so it will just be 2 couples. The girl used to be my pro-am partner. I'm sure we'll do some dancing before the night is over. 8)

Traditionally I kinda 'boycotted' NYE events.......I can't see how they justify charging up to 10 times as much for the same deal :x !
Then there's the drunken suggles issue  ....they are everywhere........
I've actually worked at the door of a salsa concert a couple of years ago, that wasn't too bad. This past one I was touring with some cover band out in the country (that was a joke, really  )...........
This year, our riverfront venue is having two salsa orquestras for $40 incl. finger food.......everyone is talking about going, so we might break the tradition & go along  ..........

I'm so with you on this one SC... even if it's not 10 times more I just don't get the point of spending multiple times the money to get less dancing just because the calendar says Dec. 31st.

It is so true about how places charge more. For example, my own studio is having a party that costs $35 per person, when normally it only costs $12. I can say that we already have lots of reservations, so people must find value in that. Nevertheless, I usually prefer an intimate evening with friends to reflect on the year, and think about the future.
You know, if conditions were ideal (scratch that - if they were just average, in fact), then I'd be up for a big New Year's Eve salsa party. But in my experience, it's too crowded, too many suggles, too few other dancers, and add in that I'm paying 5-10x as much as normal...
So usually I end up skipping NYE for dancing and go do something else with friends instead.

I've been invited out but don't want to
go out with all the crazy people on the roads.
I'm still pondering but had better make up my mind soon

Mine was absolutely wonderful. Another night of dancing until 4am (which is quite unusual for me). Good food, great music and friends. Fireworks were awesome. Best dance holiday season I've had in years. :D
