I haven't really seen any good salsa movies. There is Dirt Dancing (Havannah Nights) but that didn't show a whole lot of salsa :(

I saw this movie called Born Romantic, it was hilarious. It centers around the London salsa scene.

   We don't talk about that much here
"Dance with Me" is one of my favourites! There are a lot of dancers who made up the LA salsa scene, who were extras in it. If you know who the people are, you may have to watch the movie twice to spot them. ;) That is, if you (as a female) can take your eyes off of Chayenne! (Or, Vanessa Williams for the guys  )
I spotted Albert Torres and someone else I knew, the second time round, in the closing scene when they dance the salsa version of "You are my Home"! I love that song!

I've seen this movie. It's quite nice, but the title is misleading. As far as i remember they dance samba in that movie.

My boyfriend loved it. It didn't really work for me, but the taxi driver was cute ;).

Yes great salsa scene (the ballroom comp scene wasn't so hot) even though the story was a cliche-fest. I think the Vasquez brothers were in it among the dancers.
Not really a salsa film but a rumba film, but "Dame la Mano" is fantastic. It's a documentary directed by Heddy Honigmann about Cuban exiles in New Jersey -- about their life and their passion for rumba music and dance -- with great music and amazing dance scenes. I was lucky to be able to see it on a long-haul flight that had a great film library, but I don't think it's available on DVD.

There are two movies called "Salsa"
the first was made with Fania in the US in 1972 or 1973
the second is a French movie made in 2000
both are very nice with good salsa dancing and music
they are available for vcr in most of the better video rental places

Dirty Dancing is my all time favorite dance movie. Havanna nights was a horrible remake but the soundtrack was awesome. Dance with me was also a good one, not all about salsa but latin dancing in general. Very nice!

Do you mean "Salsa y Amor" (referrring to the French movie)? Yes, that was a very cute salsa movie, fun, funny and good music.
Dirty Dancing I (1987) is one of my all time favorite dance movies, Havana Nights was not worth my time: no story, bad actors, hardly any dancing.
I liked the movie Salsa with Robbie Rosa (1988).
I also saw a kind of cute German salsa movie: "Die Salsaprinzessin" (not spectacular but nice).

Salsera-Danij,
I just sent you a PM with some links where you can get it (since I cannot post them here). I found only links in Germany, though.
Another movie that came to my mind and that I enjoyed very much was a movie about Arturo Sandoval: For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story. With Andy Garcia and Gloria Estefan.
This movie is not so much about dancing, but about Arturo Sandoval (Cuban jazz and latin jazz musician), his life in Cuba and how he defected to the US. It is a lot about music, it has beautiful pictures of old Havana although they are actually of Old San Juan since the movie was made in San Juan but it looks like Havana. Here is more info: http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1804462756/info.
I saw it on TV after it came out. Should watch it again because I really enjoyed it!

I don't know if its one of those movies with different names, but I was off work the other day and at the mercy of daytime TV...I stumbled across a dance movie called 'the way she moves' and the dane in question was salsa.
It was a nice enough movie, good for a sick day, although as usual much of the dancing was pants!

I've had a look on UK TV listings and i can't see it repeated. i think it was on movies 24
