I just read about this in the news, the national anthem sung in Spanish. Has anyone heard it online yet? If you have, post a link..thanks!
I guess the conservatives are all PO'd about this...W says it should only be sung in English, but I just read a blog that pointed out that the White House website is available translated into Spanish...ha! Let the petty partisan psuedo-patriotic bickering begin!!!

"Nuestro Himno" isn't a person, actually, it's the name of a song. Translated into English, it means "Our Hymn" (Nuestro=Our, Himno=Hymn). It's a Spanish version of the National Anthem (USA that is), that's sung by some popular Spanish singers, some bachata people, pop people, reggaeton people, etc...it's all on the news right now, check out cnn.com or something like that. Who knows, maybe it'll be the Anglo version of the Mohammed cartoons...ha ha ha!

So what did it sound like? Was it just the regular national anthem sung in Spanish, or different music??? I'm dying to hear it.
You must live in Miami? Just from looking at the background of your avatar, it looks like Biscayne Bay.

I just heard the song, sounded like a pretty standard pop arrangement for the regular national anthem. Maybe I'll start out with this next time I do a gig...I happened to read the comments link about the song, it was kind of scary. Lots of "patriotic" postings from folks who blew their tops when they heard about the song, telling folks to "go back to Mexico", which is funny because it's sung by Puerto Ricans, Haitians, etc... There was even talk about an inevitable "civil war" here in the US, presumably between Hispanics and Anglos, about a silent war being waged by Mexico against the US...holy crap! What hole did these people crawl out of?????
Like I've said before, whenever people start waving the flag and/or thumping the bible, I just turn around and run the other way....
Thanks again for the link Salcero2005!

I've heard it. Good idea, and the translation is pretty faithful to the english version.
What I did not like was the production. Too many singers, it sounds more like a medley than an anthem. It does not come across as very "singable"
And of course ther is going to be a lot of controversy about it.
When you realize that most americans do not even know the english words, really what is so wrong about spanish lyrics?

It did not help that a popular movie from the 90's (something about baseball, can not remember the name) made fun of the Star spangled banner by replacing
Oh say can you see...
by Hey Jose can you sing...

My Canadian friend, are you being facetious or are you basing this on something factual? :D

I read about that particular tidbit a while ago onon MSNBC.com
I believe that is an american source.
Plus my own personal observations.
I am sure any american who actually knows the words to his national anthem could take exeption to my post. Sorry.
