I borrowed "Let's Dance Salsa" Advanced and Expert Combos" by Marion Silva from a friend. Hhhmm, where do I begin? Well I'll start out by saying that his style was much more of a Cuban style and I dance LA style. So a lot of the moves in the video wouldn't work for me. Besides that fact, I really didn't like the video. His style wasn't very clean and the follow wasn't all that good. The actual moves he broke down were OK I guess, but unless you're a cuban style dancer I don't think you'll benefit very much from this video.

Hi,
I borrowed these videos from the local library and I couldn't find anything that I could use for my dancing. I'm sure that these videos will be helpful for some people who practice his style of dancing but to be honest I haven't seen many people dancing this style. I am not sure if the style presented in the video is the cuban style ( I don't thing it is ) but I can see how the cuban style dancer might take an idea or two out of the video. In general, I haven't heard many good things said about this particular video series.

I don't know if his style is Cuban or not. I just assumed it was. To be honest with you, I really don't what style he is trying to teach. But I have never seen anyone dance like that either.

I agree, I was lucky enough to see some other dvds beside his, otherwise I would have give up on salsa right there. I can't really describe in worlds how completely adverse I am to his style.

The lack of technique is astounding, advices like(e.g. don't ever spin in of foot) basically deletes all axel spins from salsa. Even for Cuban I have seen dvds who are clearly superior.

How his dvds became so disseminated, baffles me, I just hope people have a chance to see other styles before they formulate an opinion about salsa
